The district has been Planning for the Future for several years. In 2017 RSP & Associates assisted the District in planning for the future and our enrollment status. Enrollment was projected to increase by over 125 students over five years, where the most significant impact would be at the high school. It was projected that the old middle and high school capacity could be near the maximum number of students. When this happens, there would be challenges with capacity adequacy (physical space in relation to educational programming). Fast forward to the present day, we did exceed capacity at the old middle school, and the voters of the Okoboji community passed the bond to build the current middle school.
Recently, the district hired RSP & Associates to conduct another enrollment forecast, building capacity, and potential development so the district can continue to plan for the future. RSP has completed its analysis, and the findings were not focused on supporting or contradicting any past internal or outsourced studies. The analysis is based on data, data, and more data. Enrollment change in the community is influenced by, but not limited to, the birth rate, demographics, types of development, and/or housing affordability.
