“Thank you to the Jones family for an amazing experience that the kids will always remember. It was informational, hands-on, and extremely interesting. The kids learned so much!,” states Mrs. Patterson (OMS fifth-grade teacher). Fifth-grade students had the opportunity to take a field trip to Jones Dairy Farm just south of Milford. This is a fourth-generation family-owned and operated farm that is utilizing some amazing technologies and innovations with over a thousand cows currently at the farm. The 5th graders went to the new location and they had 6 different stations they went to. They also got to milk a cow and learn about safety as well as new STEM innovations. “It was an impressive facility and super clean and efficient,” Lilly Dahms states, “I really liked that we got to pet the cow and learn about farm safety! We also learned how hard it is to get someone out of a grain bin.”
Mrs Coyle said, “An amazing facility that kept our students engaged and active throughout the whole day.” Our 5th graders also got to learn about a lot of stuff, even drone training!” Emerson Wittrock said, “The milking machine was very cool, and learning to fly drones was fun.''This lesson was blended into science topics like animal adaptations. A lot of students liked interacting with the calves and milking cows. Jones Dairy Farm is a family-owned and operated dairy farm. It took five years for them to make their farm fast and better than ever.
