The boys’ basketball players crushed it this season winning several games! Players did their best while having a great time on the court making memories! Many players made new friends and recalled several great memories. Jake Nueharth, Cooper Boone, Lincoln Wolf, and Jake Pausley all shared the great memory of Jack Nelson making his first basket. “After he made his shot, the gym roared with cheers and it was great to see our teammate succeed,” stated Cooper Boone - 8th grade basketball player. Many students tried the sport for the first time and had a great experience because of the supportive and exhilarating environment.
While making memories and having a great time, players also learned new valuable skills. Coaches, Rory Mara, and Brian Richter helped greatly in introducing crucial techniques to help the team get better each day. Many players said they progressed much with their shooting form, dribbling, rebounding, and ball handling. “Basketball has also helped with my collaboration skills because without it it’d be hard to communicate with my team on the court,” said Lincoln Wolf - 8th grade basketball player. Jake Neuharth, 8th grade basketball player, stated “I play all of the positions, so showing up every day, giving my best effort, and being accountable is crucial for the sport.” All of these techniques are greatly needed to be a better team player.
Boys from the team now have a lasting impact from their great experiences! They all recommended that younger players keep playing and growing through the sport, as it can shape who you are as a person. “Sometimes you don’t have a great game, but there’s no need to get down because there’s always another one," recalled Clayton Bottolfsen. The boys gained so much from participating in the sport, and many want to continue playing throughout their lives.
Players vividly remember this quote, “Win or lose you're always a family, from Rich Martin, practice coach. This encouraged them and reminded them to keep persevering while playing!
Overall, the players had a great season and we’re looking forward to the girl’s season starting soon!
